How Asian handicap works
An Asian handicap gives one team a head start or a deficit in goals, then settles the bet on the adjusted score. It removes the draw from a match: with half-goal lines (-0.5, +1.5) one side always wins; with whole lines (0, -1) an exact result refunds the stake; with quarter lines (-0.25, -0.75, +1.25) the stake is split between the two neighbouring lines.
The lines at a glance
| Line on your team | Wins by 2+ | Wins by 1 | Draw | Loses |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0 (draw no bet) | Win | Win | Stake back | Loss |
| -0.25 | Win | Win | Half loss | Loss |
| -0.5 | Win | Win | Loss | Loss |
| -0.75 | Win | Half win | Loss | Loss |
| -1 | Win | Stake back | Loss | Loss |
| +0.25 | Win | Win | Half win | Loss |
| +0.5 | Win | Win | Win | Loss |
On +0.25 and +0.5 "Loses" means by any margin; +0.75, +1 and bigger lines also cover a one-goal loss in part or in full. The calculator shows every case.
A worked example
Asian handicap and surebets
Two books pricing opposite sides of the same line can have implied probabilities that add up to less than 1: for example your team -0.75 at one book and the other team +0.75 at another. Stake both in the right proportion with the surebet calculator and every final score returns about the same, including the half results, because both legs split the same way.
The trap is a mismatch: different lines, different periods (first half against full time), or different rules for extra time. Arbistoteles matches events on fixture, market, period and line before it pairs two prices.
